About New York-New York Hotel

  • The Mad Apple Theater is the primary performance area inside the hotel where 1,170 seats are divided across two levels - the core or 'showroom' and a balcony.
  • The theater features two levels of seating, divided further into three sections, with sections 102-103 offering the best views. Sections 101-104 and 201-205 are at the first 'showroom' level, arranged in a fashion similar to a basketball court.
  • Sections 202 and 204 are at the back, but provide good value for their price, while sections 301-305 offer elevated views from the second level. Before the show, the stage transforms into a bar where guests can socialize.

Gary Primm of Primadonna Resorts approached the MGM Group with his idea to bring a taste of the Big Apple to the Strip, featuring scaled-down replicas of well-known landmarks and structures. The New York-New York Hotel & Casino was thus inaugurated on January 3, 1997, with a grand opening celebration that included performances by notable artists like Wayne Newton.

Every detail, from the exterior to the experiences inside is a functional embodiment of life in New York. Cirque du Soleil's Mad Apple was the cherry on the cake, as the show immortalized a wild night out in NYC with a cocktail of music, dance, comedy, and acrobatics. Mad Apple Theater was opened inside the hotel premises in 2022 after the departure of the previous Cirque du Soleil hit - Zumanity. It is customized to serve Cirque du Soleil's production Mad Apple, with special adjustments made to enhance the viewing experience.

  • The exterior of the hotel was purposefully built to resemble the 1940s New York City skyline, making it the first resort of its kind on the Las Vegas strip. Designers Neal Gaskin and Ilia Bezansky closely studied travel books and drawings of the city to perfectly replicate the architecture.
  • The facade features notable landmarks like the Brooklyn Bridge, Grand Central Station, and skyscrapers resembling the Chrysler Building, Lever House, and Seagram Building. A half-scale Statue of Liberty, standing at 150 feet, and a 47-story Empire State Building are especially notable.
  • Interior: Constructed to mirror New York's vibrant nightlife, the interior resembles houses and shops lined on a busy street in Manhattan. The brightly colored signs, colorful houses, and stairways will transport you to the busy streets of NYC.
  • Notable Features: A "Coney Island-style" roller coaster, previously called the Manhattan Express, winds through the recreated cityscape. Visitors can take a thrill ride across the exterior and interior of the hotel through this Big Apple rollercoaster, which was also the first of its kind to feature a 180-degree twist and dive.

  • Bus: Take the Deuce, 119, or 201 buses, which run along the Las Vegas Strip 24/7. You can board at any of the stops along the Strip, get off at the WB Tropicana bus stop, and take a 2-minute walk toward the hotel.
  • Car: You can self-park your vehicles for $18 on Monday to Thursday and $23 on the weekends. Valet parking is available at $40 per day. Parking is complimentary for MGM Rewards members, MGM Rewards Mastercard cardholders, and Nevada residents for the first 3 hours. Prices are subject to change at special events.
  • Taxi: Taxis and rideshare services like Uber and Lyft are readily available around the city, and will drop you off at the designated rideshare drop-off area at the main entrance.
  • Monorail: You can take the monorail to the MGM Grand Station, which is the closest stop. From there, it's a short walk across the pedestrian bridge to the New York-New York Hotel. 
  • Recommended route: The bus is the cheapest and most convenient way to reach the hotel with minimum disturbances.
  • Washrooms: Visitors can use conveniently placed washrooms near all major attractions inside the premises. Several accessible washrooms are also available for persons with disability. Please check with the staff for the nearest toilet.
  • Food and beverage: Several restaurants, from classic American favorites to experimental fine dining destinations are spread across the venue. Guests can also enjoy the bars inside the Mad Apple Theater during their visit.
  • Wifi: All visitors can access high-speed internet services inside the expansive hotel and casino and relax in the open public areas.
  • Pets and service animals: Service or working dogs can accompany persons with disabilities in all areas. Please contact the hotel staff for any restrictions.
  • Parking: Designated accessible parking spots are reserved for visitors with disabilities. You may also book special accessible rooms for a comfortable stay.
  • Ramps & elevators: All levels of the hotel are connected via lifts and elevators. Access to all common areas in the premises is step-free.
  • Accessible seating: You can book wheelchair-accessible seating available in the back rows of 101, 104, 203, and 204 on the lower level and sections 302-304 on the upper level.
  • Dressing: Don't be afraid to dress up during your visit to Las Vegas's Manhattan replica. While many visitors stick to casuals, the vibrant atmosphere in Vegas offers the perfect opportunity to bring out your best attire. Don't forget to carry a light jacket as the hotels are air-conditioned throughout the year and may get chilly.
